So this is my very first blog post and I am extremely excited to be named as the Market Cross Style Scout and Guest Fashion Blogger! Just to introduce myself a little bit, my name is Eva Phelan and I am a 19 year old student of Music and French in UCD. I have always had an interest in fashion and that was really cemented when I won “The Face of Kilkenny Fashion Week” modelling competition in 2013. Since then, I have been modelling for various fashion shows and photoshoots and I have met some amazing people and had fantastic opportunities along the way! This blog is a new venture for me and I hope to bring readers style tips and trends over the coming months while showcasing all that Market Cross Shopping Centre has to offer. If anyone has any requests/suggestions on what they would like to read about we would love for you to get in contact with us at Market Cross Shopping centre.
So let’s face it, autumn has well and truly arrived and after our short-lived summer, it’s time to root out the winter woollies and prepare ourselves for the usual cold spell season. However it’s not all bad as Autumn/Winter 2016 brings a whole new selection of trends for us to discover. Therefore I decided for my first post I would do a short piece on the some of the biggest trends for Autumn/Winter 2016.
The lowdown on the some of the biggest A/W 2016 trends!
A big trend this autumn is the trench coat. In my opinion it’s a staple piece that will never date in your wardrobe, but this year it has made a comeback as the “it” piece for the transition between summer and winter. While it doesn’t give the warmth and potential rain coverage of a proper wool coat or hooded-bomber, it will look fabulous! This button-less one from Vero Moda comes in two other colours and will match nearly everything in your wardrobe. (€49.95)
Texture, texture and more texture!
Who doesn’t love a nice collar of fur on their best coat or a velvet dress for Christmas? This season, textures are all-in with velvet and fur being the most prominent- faux fur of course! Velvet was a big hit on the Balmain runway so why not try to incorporate a little bit of velvet into your autumn look with this top from Penneys (€8).
This Autumn/Winter check is back! Thanks to Victoria Beckham’s A/W16 collection gingham, tartan and plaid are all over the rails for the next few months. Animal prints are also making an appearance, with leopard print being a favourite! This top is only €6 in Penneys and this check Blanket Coat from Monsoon (€135) is also a great example of how to add this trend to your wardrobe.
It’s time to get the sewing kit out! This A/W, continuing on from the same summer trend, embroidered bombers, skirts and boots are everywhere and are a staple piece for your wardrobe. This Mayli embroidered jacket from Monsoon (€108) is an eye-catching piece and will really dress up an outfit
And if you just want a hint of this trend in your look why not add an embroidered Clutch from Wallis €36 or Accessorize €40
So they are just four of the big trends this season! All of the clothing and accessories pictured are available in Market Cross Shopping Centre, Kilkenny!
Why not try some of these trends and send us in a photo for our monthly style competition by entering the online competition to win a voucher for €100 or by keeping an eye out for me when I am “Style-Scouting” on various days in the centre.
Hope you enjoyed reading my first post!
